Maybe it's because I'm out of ideas to search for online for Christmas shopping or maybe its because my mom called me telling me about all the horse supplies she got today and the ones she could not find but ... I've got horses on the brain this afternoon! It took me a few minutes but I was able to find when exactly the World Equestrian Games will be ... 2010 ... yuck! that far away!! There goes tickets to that for a christmas present *this year*. It's going to be in the US for the first time in history and Kentucky to be exact. I guess its the world cup or the Olympics of all things horse, they had events listed on the website that I had never heard of. The Kentucky Horse park is a horse lover's paradise, and even if you're not a total horse lover its pretty fantastic! I can't remember how old I was but my family and I took an RV from Florida to Kentucky one summer to go to Breyerfest. These model horses I collected growing up ... whoa. It was pretty overwhelming just to be at the event and then the horse park had tons of things you could do. It def. was a awesome trip and I can't wait to go back one day. I'm hoping one day will be closer than 2010, but with everyone's busy schedules its always hard to get away. I found on the horse park's website that they also host the Rolex every April at the horse park. Phil is a fan of the cross-country that has horses jumping in and out of water, over bushes, logs, basically anything ... it's extreme horse jumping, and also one of the events included in the 3 day Rolex. I think it would be a fun mini-vacation, but then again I'm not sure what the drive or flying time is to Kentucky ... and I'd sure love to go back! This would also be a good Christmas gift for the person who "has everything" ;)
Here are some pretty spectacular pictures on the Rolex website:
