Remodeling is hard. That's my statement of the day. Today the shag left the building and my grandpa's house waved goodbye to the 70's. A few posts down you might recall the carpet color dilemma. My parents thought the darker/golder color would look better, I however thought it would be too much like the shag (orange/brown/dark). I'm not a fan of the darks (carpet, wood, ect) and I thought for sure a little white/cream would lighten up the mood. Wrong. I have to say I was less than thrilled when I walked through the door and saw the new carpet. My first thought was White carpet? What? But no a closer look revealed it was indeed the brown/cream color I so fondly adored on the swatch at Lowe's. The next thought through my head was why would I go against my parents. This thought has occurred more than once in my life. When we go out to dinner I almost always order what my dad gets, why? Because if I don't then whatever he gets comes out and looks and 99.9% of the time tastes way better than mine. I think this might be why I have such a hard time making decisions! Because every time I make one I always think man I should of chose the other one. I'm not saying that I would of even loved the other color, I think I just dislike carpet! haha... But I didn't truly realize how much freaking light came into the house and made the carpet look white. Also the Mr. Clean side of me realized how dirty it was going to get just from normal use. The bottom line is from a tiny little swatch I didn't see the bigger picture of how much white it really was. Looking at the pictures I don't dislike it as much as I thought I did on the drive home, but ehh it doesn't really do anything for me. I think it will be fine, and of course with furniture it won't scream white white white (hopefully) but I'll always wonder should I have gone for the brown/gold? I guess if that sucked I could blame my mom and dad and not myself! haha... Oh well, there is no changing it now. Here's hoping the kitchen looks a lot better than the living room, I didn't pick those colors so I'm sure it will look awesome.
