Apparently the beginning of the year marks a time to set goals and have a clean slate at life. I've never been one about new years resolutions but I have to say I am someone thats all about some goals in life. So that got me thinking, and my first goal of 2009 was to make a list of goals ... check one. I'm all about some checking things off too ... I make lists all the time and even if I've done something already that day I put it on the list to check it off ... cheating maybe ... satisfying ... yes.
So drum roll ... goals for 2009:
1.) Continue to stay happy and healthy : I say "continue" because I am happy and healthy. Healthy by my definition is "fit" and eating salad once a week and drinking my recomended amount of water. I'm making this my motto for 2009 as it should be the main goal. I mean if you're not healthy then you're probably not happy and vise versa ... they go hand in hand.
2.) Run in another 5K : Continue with the healthy train and yes run another 5K, now why would I put myself through this anguish again ... because it sets a goal. Sometimes running everyday gets boring but if I am running for a goal (to run in a race) then I get my butt up and do it.
3.) Get out there and travel: This year was a year of change and saving. Phil and I have been saving, for a house and for some trips and for our future. This year we are def. hoping to get to Holland and I am very excited. I will also be doing some traveling for my job and I'm excited to get out there and see some new places.
4.) Learn another language: This I've already started on but since I haven't even completed Level 1 it is a goal of 2009. I'm learning dutch with Rosetta Stone. It's hard but its fun, and its like going to school again and I really enjoy talking with my dad in dutch.
5.) Play more tennis: Maybe this should be back up with the running and being healthy but I really miss tennis. I can't remember the last time I played and well I miss it ... ping pong is no longer filling the void. I wish we could find a team down here to play on socially because lets face it playing one person (your husband) can get old.
6.) Go to more concerts/shows with my mom: January we're catching Lady Antibellum at the fair and I hope its the start of many more this year! We always look forward to the concerts and have a lot of fun together. We're also seeing Legally Blonde on Broadway when it comes to town in March at the Kravis Center ... yesssss! This falls under the "staying happy" main goal.
7.) Be a better wife: This one is tough since I'm the best wife ever according to my husband. hahahaha ... but marriage is tough, not every day is a walk in the park and I think both people have to work at it. I hope to do some more cooking in 2009, maybe learn some new dishes we both like. Keep the house clean or livable with minimul clutter :) And keep doing fun stuff like walks on the beach, going to some more movies, playing our softball games ...
8.) Make more friends: This one was tough, 2008 was a year of change. Phil and I had made a lot of good friends in Atlanta that we left behind when we moved, and that took us 3 years. But I think we've both started to make some good friends through work and our softball team and I'm looking forward to growing some more friendships as we make our life here in West Palm.
9.) Sell our house in Atlanta and keep saving money: Yeah yeah I said 2008 was a year of saving, well so is 2009! I have to say Phil does an excellent idea putting money away each month into our savings fun. Thank you for that babe. Hopefully the market doesn't continue to crash and we will be able to sell our townhome in Atlanta and then really really start saving to buy a house in the future. We're very very happy where we are right now in my grandpa's house and we'll stay here as long as we can :) But one of these days we know we'll have to move on and buy another house, hopefully by then we'll have sold our one in Atlanta.
10.) Capture it all on film: yes yes continue to document everyone's life as the true paparazi I am :) In 2008 I took something like 3,800 pictures ... I think I can do better ;)
And there you go just like dave letterman my top 10 for 2009.
